At the age of 11, I decided that I wanted to be a math teacher. My 6th grade math teacher inspired me so I went home one day and told my mom about my plan to become a math teacher someday. Because my family was very poor, my mother began to cry. She told me that she could not afford to send me to college; however, she encouraged me to do my best in school so I could get scholarships for college. I did my best in school, received scholarships and grants for college, and paid my way through graduate school. I have been teaching college level mathematics since the Fall of 1990. In 1994, I began teaching mathematics at IRSC. I love teaching math and look forward to another rewarding semester!
